When we use flocculant in water treatment, we usually suggest to use it with polyacrylamide (PAM). Why?

Lvyuan Environment Group Co.,Limited found that all kinds of experimental and practical data show that under the same water quality conditions, polyacrylamide combined with other flocculants can greatly reduce the dosage of flocculants; if it is used in drinking water purification and industrial wastewater treatment, polyacrylamide combined with inorganic flocculants can significantly improve the water quality; In the process of sludge dewatering, polyacrylamide can improve the floc strength, increase the sedimentation performance, and achieve the effect of improving the solid-liquid separation speed; because the use of polyacrylamide reduces the amount of flocculant, the deposition of inorganic substances on the surface of the equipment is reduced, so it can slow down the corrosion of the equipment and reduce the scaling on the surface of the equipment.

Although the effect of mixing polyacrylamide and other flocculants is better, the order of using polyacrylamide and other flocculants should also be paid attention to. Taking polyaluminum chloride (PAC) as an example, when PAC is combined with PAM, PAC neutralizes charge / colloid to form fine flocs, while PAM increases floc volume to make flocs precipitate fully. Because PAC reaction time is very short, it needs strong mixing after adding raw water, while PAM reaction time is long, so it should pay attention to mix the reagent evenly before reducing the speed to avoid damaging flocs. Generally, coagulant should be used first and then polyacrylamide should be added. However, the quality of sewage is affected by industry, region, temperature, pH value and other factors. In order to achieve the best use effect, do an experiment first is the safest method. However, no matter what the order of use of the two drugs is, it should be remembered that the two drugs should not be used directly together at the same time, otherwise the effect will not only be greatly reduced, but the cost of use may also be increased.
